Your Ally for the Social Security Disability Process

At Lieberman, Ryan & Forrest, we handle Social Security Disability (SSD) claims and appeals for people in Somerset County, Hunterdon County and throughout New Jersey. If the process seems complex and confusing, our attorneys are here to make it easier and less stressful.

Do I Qualify?

To qualify for disability benefits, you must prove that you have been, or will be, disabled for at least 12 months. Benefits will be based on your disability, age and work history. No matter how real and severe your disability is, you must prove it to the Social Security Administration (SSA) before getting approved for benefits. This is why it is so important to enlist the services of an experienced SSD attorney. There is no upfront fee for hiring an attorney for an SSD claim. You only pay your attorney if he or she obtains a successful result for you.

Working for You Every Step of The Way

We can represent you through all stages of the process of seeking SSD benefits in New Jersey:

  1. Filing your initial claim: You can file your initial claim online, by telephone or at your local Social Security office. Our attorneys can provide you with guidance designed to maximize your chance of getting accepted. Do not despair over a claim denial. Most claims are approved after this stage. A knowledgeable attorney can help you prepare your initial claim with the mindset of getting approved or setting the stage for a successful appeal.
  2. Request for reconsideration: If your initial claim is denied, you have 60 days from the date of the denial to file a written request for reconsideration. Our attorneys can help you make the most of this opportunity by including additional data about your disability in your request. If your claim is again denied, you have another 60 days to request a hearing.
  3. Administrative Law Judge Hearing: This hearing is your best chance of getting approved. It is your first opportunity to present your claim in person to an SSA official. We have successfully handled numerous hearings before administrative law judges and can help you present a compelling case.
  4. Appeals Council: If your claim is approved, you will receive a Notice of Decision and a Notice of Award. If your claim is denied, you have the opportunity to appeal the administrative law judge’s decision before an Appeals Council.

A skilled SSD lawyer’s guidance can help you through every stage of this process. Remember, you don’t have to go it alone.
